We'd love to welcome you to our church this Sunday

Whatever your background…

You're welcome here!

Whether you’ve been invited along by a friend, exploring Christianity or just curious about our church – there’s a place for you at St James.

Part of our reason we gather each week is to welcome and include visitors who are new to church, and new to Christianity. We try to be as clear and inclusive as possible.

Sunday Services

9am, 10:30am + 6pm

  • Our welcoming teams arrive 15 minutes before each service and everyone else usually arrives within a few minutes of the start time to get settled.

  • Feel free to visit any of our services, though if it helps, each service has its own ‘flavour’. Our morning services are demographically diverse and our 6pm service is predominantly made up of people aged roughly between 15-35.

So, what happens each week at church?

Each service runs for around 65-75 minutes. Led from the front, we will sing, pray, hear a Bible reading and a 25 minute Bible talk (usually called a sermon) explaining its relevance for our lives today. You are welcome to participate in as much or as little of this as you feel comfortable.

We love having Kids and Youth at church

We have creche and kids programs up to year 9 available at our 9am and 10:30am services just for them. Kids are welcome to stay in the church service if they prefer, and we have a space for younger kids to play or be loud at the back of the building.

FAQs

You can wear whatever clothes you’re comfortable in! We don’t really ‘dress up’ for church – you’ll see jeans, sneakers, dresses and everything in between.

A key part of church community is building friendships, and so we stick around after the service to connect over a free cuppa and snack. We’d love you to join us. If you’re keen to find out more or are not sure where to go, look out for our welcome flag where one of our ministers would love to say hello.

No problem! St James is made up of people from all sorts of backgrounds and walks of life. We do our best to explain what’s happening during our church services – no assumed knowledge needed. You have a standing invitation to explore Jesus and why we think he’s so great.

St James is wheelchair accessible through the lawn-side door, and we have wheelchair accessible toilet facilities. We also have a hearing loop in the church building. We will try our best to accommodate you if you have other needs.
