Working Bees

Several times a year all the congregations get together for a working bee to maintain the facilities God has provided for us through the generosity of past and present members. A working bee is a neat example of God’s people all exercising their different gifts towards the upbuilding (literally!) of the church (Eph 4:16). So working bees are not a specialised ministry – they should be a regular part of every member’s contribution to church life.

Maintaining the property God has given us is also an exercise in stewardship. Jesus critiques God’s people of being bad managers of worldly possessions, even though they have a heavenly motivation for using them well (Luke 16:1-12). We are not trying to build bigger and bigger barns to amass wealth for ourselves. But we are also not called to waste the good things God has given us to enjoy (1 Tim 4:4).

There are different kinds of working, but the same God works all of them in all men. 1 Cor 12:6

What is a Healthy Church Member?

Thabiti M. Anyabwile
A committed member gives resources, time, and talent to the furtherance of the gospel in the local church. He lives out the Bible’s call to the body of Christ. “We have different gifts, according to the grace given us…” (Rom 12:6-8).

A healthy, committed church member receives and applies the grace of God by working to support the ministry of the local church and excels in giving what he has already received from God to gospel work.
