The starting point of a sermon, just like for a Bible-study, a Scripture lesson, and even a quiet time, is simply to read and understand God’s word. Even though the final result may focus on a particular main idea of the passage, it is responsible to understand the whole passage, verse-by-verse. On this page are the detailed thoughts and commentary that preceded various talks, going through the passage verse by verse. They are useful for thinking more deeply and devotionally about a passage, beyond what can be discussed in a single talk. They also allow a sanity check as to whether the final message of a talk bears any resemblance to the actual content of the verses!
