Happy to burn you an MP3 CD, Dave, when we finish the series. We're already up to #30, so it would be too many audio CD's.

You've heard the talk, Dave, but to answer specifically this question: I think faithfulness shows itself in that desire to shoot for 100% - i.e. to never be satisfied with outstanding issues; never get used to lies or betrayal, no matter how trivial. Of course when we fail, as we always will, we repent, ask forgiveness, and try again. But the relationships (particularly of the exclusive kind - like with God) where we shoot for less than 100% are doomed from the start.

Hi Ted, I agree totally that it's not a problem if we don't know the particular outcomes that God has in mind as he uses us in his plans. Like for people in the Old Testament, we know God's ultimate plans because he has told us: his will is for us to become more and more like Jesus (Rom 8), and for us to persevere until heaven (John 10). To insist on knowing all his intermediate plans is to lack faith. As Peter says, we have all we need for life and godliness through the knowledge of God we have, so the best bet is just to get on with making godly and faithful decisions in the present (which is what "living within God's will" really means), and entrust God with the details :)

Hi Jon,
I liked your description of God's purposes and intent and how he achieves his will. I would rather not be 'unwittingly' used by God for his purposes, but rather have a knowledge of how he is using me for his purposes. I would rather live within God's will and know where he is leading, than be an ignorant puppet. As Barry has said many a time, living within God's will is the safest place to be, but is it always the place where one knows how God is using you. I think not. Is it a good or bad thing to know one is being used by God willingly, but not know the outcome of his plan? (Ref: Ehud the Left Handed, 9:30-12:00 mins). Regards, Ted.
